XBS (Enhanced Base Station) is the Base Station of the Broadband corDECT system. The XBS provides radio coverage to subscribers up to 10 km under clear LOS conditions.
XBS is tower mounted to minimize RF cable loss. XBS is remotely powered from the BXD or the corVAN, and supports two directional antennas per unit.
Using the DECT air interface, each XBS provides 12 simultaneous channels and typically supports 50 subscribers at 0.1E (per subscriber) and 1% Grade of Service (GoS).
In XBS synchronization is done from external GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and/or through the interconnection with another XBS.
Typically Eight XBS can be installed per BTS tower, covering 360° by 8 x 45° sectors. Two 18 dB directional Antenna is used per XBS to cover 45° sector. Two GPS units are typically used for 8 XBSs for redundancy. These units are interconnected through an InterConnection Box (ICB), as shown below. ICB provides a common tower earth for 8 XBSs.
